Permit Required Confined Spaces Training

This Program will provide training and education to persons that may be required to perform work within confined spaces and permit required confined spaces. This training will focus on the regulatory requirements of 29 CFR 1910.146 and will provide information on the following:

● Definitions and Background
● Hazards of Confined Spaces
● Basic Entry Requirements
● Written Program Requirements
● Entry Permit System and Permit Content Alternative Entry and Reclassification Procedures
● Duties of Entry Team Members and Training Requirements
● Contractor Requirements and Rescue and Emergency Services

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following points:

1. Definitions and Background
● What is a Confined Space?
● The distinction between a confined space and a Permit Required Confined Space (PRCS)
● Examples of confined spaces and permit required confined spaces

2. Hazards of Confined Spaces
● Fatality statistics related to confined space hazards
● Atmospheric Hazards
● Physical Hazards
● Health Hazards

3. Chemical Properties and Terminology
● Hazards of Chemicals
● Chemical properties (Flash Point, Boiling Point, Vapor Pressure, Specific Gravity, Vapor Density)
● Forms of Airborne Chemicals (Vapors, Gases, Fumes, Mists, Dusts, Fibers)
● Toxicity (LD50/LC50)
● Exposure limits (TWA, PEL/TLV, REL, STEL, ceiling, etc.)
●Concentration measurements (ppm, ppb, mg/m3, etc.)

4. Basic Entry and PRCS Documentation Requirements
● Definition of entry
● Confined Space Evaluation process
● Written Program Elements
● Entry Permit System and Permit Content
● Alternative Entry and Reclassification Procedures

5. Duties of Entry Team Members and training requirements
● Training requirements for all team members
● Duties/Responsibilities of Authorized Entrants
● Duties/Responsibilities of Authorized Attendants
● Duties/Responsibilities of Entry Supervisors

6. Contractor Requirements and Rescue and Emergency Services
● Host employer responsibilities
● Contractor responsibilities
● Duty of employer to notify and evaluate rescue services

7. Practical Exercise
● Fatality case studies
● PRCS evaluation and procedure development exercise

Cost: $50.00 per person - LUNCH PROVIDED
